My Story

NO MAGIC REQUIRED!

“For millions of Christians, nevertheless, God is no more real than He is to non-Christians. They go through life trying to love an ideal and be loyal to a mere principle” A.W. Tozer

Striving For Excellence was created and inspired by the following:

*As a lover of comfy T-shirts, there felt like there was a lack of Christian graphic tees. When searching for Christian T-shirts, mostly “typography” items appeared in search results and really nothing stood out that made me want to purchase such items and felt the need to fulfill that niche.

*To include and promote ALL women and to offer items that come in all sizes.

*To create Christian T-shirts and graphic-tees to encourage and uplift women. The intent was to create something real that would be a day to day reminder of God’s truth and promises.

*To create an active unique ministry to encourage believers and non-blievers to read, learn, and meditate on scripture. Someone once said,

“You may be the ONLY Bible that some people read, so live a godly life in accordance to scripture: holy, humble, kind, joyful, generous, long-suffering, forgiving ‘70 X 7’, consistent, and anchored in the truth of God”.

Almost every design that S.F.E. creates and promotes, there is a Bible verse that accompanies it. By this method, not only is S.F.E. ministering to the individual buyer, but when that buyer wears our product(s), they are thus, ministering to the world. This creates a unique way of fellowship and community.

* There was a time when I was working with a group of women, African Americans, who kept promoting “Black Girl Magic”. It didn’t really make sense to me at the time, but I remember being very put off by this. My goal is first, encourage believers to read and study scripture, and second to put their complete faith, hope, trust, and give credit to the Lord. NOT magic. NOT the universe.

*African Americans as well as other persons of color are still strongly stereotyped with being perceived as angry, irate, ghetto, incompetent or associated with witch craft.  I really wanted to feature a T-shirt line uplifting black women and women of color with something positive, true, and real.

*My inspiration for the “Black Girl Faith” line came from my desire to rewrite the narrative from “black girl magic” to “faith”.

*I want black woman and ALL women to be associated with truth, godliness, righteousness, strength, beauty, elegance, compassion, and respect. A woman who strives for excellence and not somebody who is associated with magic, or witchcraft or  anything less than what God has call her to be.
